PI Interface

There was a time when the laboratory operated as an isolated island of automation. In today’s environment of Global Enterprise Resource Planning and highly sophisticated process modeling systems, making laboratory results available in a timely manner to these systems is critical for success.

As analytical results are completed in the laboratory, they often need to be transferred into the OSI-PI™ system. Baytek International offers several ways to achieve the transfer, including the utilization of the PI API™ as well as the industry standard OPC (using OSI’s HDA-OPC™). The system will flag errors and hold them for review and retransmission. Maintaining the tag name interfaces on BLISS provides the destination and control information necessary to effectively manage this transfer.

Benefits:

  • Near real-time reporting of results
  • Early identification of potential issues
  • Accelerated decision-making opportunities
  • Common reporting tools for the end user, such as ProcessBook™ and Process Database™
  • Creation of calculations using laboratory data

Capabilities:

  • Cross references are configured and maintained in BLISS
  • Tag names retrievable from PI during configuration of BLISS interface
  • Results transferred upon:
    • Sample completion
    • Test completion
    • Result change
  • System traps errors and holds results for retransmission
  • Transfer status is available for pending transfers and/or completed transfers
  • Direct data transfer using the PI server or the OPC interface
  • Retransmission of historical data and time to PI
